Contemporary Trends in Information Organization in the Academic Library Environment

The Nazarbayev University Library and the Association of University Libraries in the Republic of Kazakhstan invite you to the 10th Eurasian Academic Libraries Conference with the theme “Contemporary Trends in Information Organization in the Academic Library Environment” which will be held in the framework of the Eurasian Higher Education Leaders Forum on 29-30 June 2021 at Nazarbayev University (Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan).

This year’s conference aims to be a platform to share best practices and experiences from various academic libraries around the world on how they implement principles and standards in organizing information as well as describing some recent developments in the field. Moreover, the conference will serve as a venue to share knowledge on how libraries and librarians deal with data with the utilization of technology as a tool.

We also extend our invitation to potential sponsors as exhibitors. As an exhibitor, you will enjoy exposure and direct marketing opportunities with practitioners and decision-makers in the field. You may choose from different sponsorship packages: Gold, Silver, Bronze.

The conference will also provide a live streaming link for those who can’t attend. 

The languages of the conference are English, Kazakh, and Russian.

Invited Speaker Talks

Information Organization has been one of the main functions of libraries, whatever the kind is. The emergence and development of technology have seen to be a driving force and a great tool in improving this function. With so many roles that libraries and librarians undertake to make them more relevant with the changing times, this part of library work should not be underestimated, especially in the new normal. Such introduction to technology has brought various ways and processes on how libraries and librarians deal with information.

The program committee invites notable speakers in the field highlighting these practices in a changing world. The topics include:

  2. Cataloging and Classification Policies and Practices (including RDA (Resource Description and Access); FRBR/FRAD (Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records/ Functional Requirements for Authority Data)
  3. Metadata Librarianship (including Linked Data, Semantic Web, Vocabulary Systems)
  4. Digital Collections and Curation
  5. Digital Humanities Analytics
  6. COVID-19 Impact on Information Organization
  7. Innovative Resources (includes Personnel, Funding, and Software)

Conference

This annual international conference discusses current issues and trends in library and information services. It is part of the Eurasian Higher Education Leaders Forum of the Nazarbayev University.
