Hack the Libguides: Start Here - MIL for All!

Welcome to all who are ready to hack the libguides and create the best ever information hubs!

To register, respond to this post with:

Toolkit

  1. Topic and scope

  • Libguides - web pages created to help to start research, answer the questions, or find the resources about a particular subject. Please see the examples.
  • The topics should be related to academic integrity, information, and media literacy.
  • Think about purpose, audience, and scope. They will be addressed in the description. However, detail them in submitting the proposal.
    • purpose: why would someone use your guide. The answer needs to be addressed in the description. For example, this libguide is intended to provide sources/information on ... that will be useful for …
    • target audience. You would select different types of information sources for freshmen, experts, students, ordinary people.
    • scope: what will you include/exclude? This also will be apparent in the description, however, be detailed in submitting the proposal: what information would be relevant to your topic and could be relevant to your audience? What are the subtopics, and how many to manage the topic? Is the topic broad or narrow? You may do a cursory search to assess the available information.
  • Your responses will set you the guidelines for your work.

Example:

  • Topic: Choosing Appropriate Research Methods and Methodologies: Introduction
  • Description: This guide will help researchers to understand which tools to use in finding, collecting, analyzing and interpreting information.
  1. Requirements 

Libguides requirements will help to create a usable and well-designed guide, these are the standards, best practices, and guidelines.

  1. Introductory training

The online training will provide an introduction to creating LibGuides (i.g. Structure, Types of content, Links etc.).

  1. Judgement criteria

Creativity, compliance to the libguides standards, impact, proofreading, consistent application of APA (7th edition).

Topic: What are the benefits of adhering to a policy of academic integrity

Description: This guide will be helpful for students to avoid consequences of the academic dishonesty and beneficial for them in their future profession workload

Scope: In this guide I will write about what is the academic honesty and its significance, what are the dishonesty consequences, their consequences and the ways to avoid these issues: citation, paraphrasing, starting to write earlier and so on.
