EDUC 502: English for Research: The Writing Process

Writing is a recursive process. While you are revising, you might have to return to the prewriting step to expand or modify your ideas. At any stage of writing, you will need your library research skills in searching and selecting the most appropriate resources. You may look at the following types of sources:

• library catalog, list of journal subscriptions

• primary vs. secondary sources

• journals, books, e-books, e-resources, institutional repository and discipline specific databases

• Open access resources

Or, may consider creating a system for documenting sources:

• for compiling resources for referencing

• for organizing documents gathered for easy retrieval

• for taking notes.
