Information Literacy at NU: Library Sessions

The Nazarbayev University Library Information Literacy Program (NU LILY) was launched in 2018 to achieve student success across all schools of the university.

The library sessions and workshops support lifelong learning and advance competency and skills necessary for students’ coursework, research, professional career, education, and personal information needs.

Everyone is encouraged to register online in the library calendar. Our workshops include:

  • Creating Surveys
  • Research Hacks: the Superpowers of Sage Research Methods, OECD and more
  • Citation Tools such as Mendeley / EndNote / Zotero
  • 5 Tools for Efficient Literature Review

  • Data Introduction: DMP and Finding Data
  • Patent Search
  • Advanced Information Search: EDS, Web of Science, Scopus
  • Selecting Journals for Publications
  • Building your Personal Brand with Author Profiles
  • SciFinder, IEEE and other specific databases

If there are no topics relevant to your needs, you are welcome to request for any instruction, research assistance, orientation, or library tour by communicating to any of the Subject Librarians throughout the year. We also provide the following kinds of sessions:

  • One-shot session - a one-time session designed to teach classes on a certain library-related topic not covered by the IL Program.
  • Drop-in session - short-time informal sessions in consultation with a subject librarian (scheduled in Calendar or Make an Appointment)
  • Training by instructors, representatives of publishers or information resource providers and library partners
  • Orientation - instructional session on how to start researching, as well as how to use library services and spaces.
