Open Access Publishing Agreements: ACM: Read and Publish Agreement

This guide provides for NU researchers and NU-affiliated authors information on how to publish their publications with Association of Computing Machinery.

Read & Publish Agreement

Read and Publish Agreement or Transformative Agreement includes the Article Processing Charge (APC) in the fee that institutions pay for their subscription to publishers. This fee not only covers the cost of accessing (reading) research outputs but also includes the Open Access publishing cost (APC) for authors in certain journals from the publisher's collection.

Information for NU Authors

1. Authors Eligibility

  • Faculty, researchers, students, or staff may use this APC agreement to publish only in Q1 journals indexed by Scopus.
  • The corresponding author must be NU-affiliated. If NU affiliation is not recognised in the Wiley system, corresponding authors must use their email address with the university domain @nu.edu.kz

2. Document Types
The publication must be recognized by the latest THE World University Rankings. Acceptable document types include:

  • Articles
  • Reviews
  • Conference Proceedings
  • Books or Book Chapters

3. Funder Acknowledgement

  • The document should provide appropriate funding acknowledgement to Nazarbayev University.
  • If an author has an ongoing internal research grant, the acknowledgement should reference the corresponding award number.

4. Journal prioritisation

  • Only Q1 journals indexed in Scopus are eligible under this agreement
  • Priority will be given to publication requests in journals ranked within the top 10% journals indexed in Scopus

5. Publication Requests

  • All publication requests meeting the criteria 1-4 shall be on a "first come, first serve" basis.
  • The journals' metrics are also available on the Scopus website.

For those who have internal grants

How to get an internal Award/Acknowledgement number in Pure:

  • Go to your account in Pure
  • Go to the Award Management tab
  • Select Projects (or Awards - they both have your award number) in the left menu
  • Select your grant IDs section > Funder project reference - this Funder project reference is your Award/Acknowledgement number, which should be indicated in your future publications under this grant.
