Attendance Grant

The Steering Committee is offering two (2) attendance grants for the Eurasian Academic Libraries Conference (EALC) 2023 in Astana, Kazakhstan. The grant is available only for regions of Kazakhstan outside of Astana.

What does the Grant cover?

The Grant covers the following: 

1. Free registration fee for the entire conference
2. Roundtrip tickets and/or accommodation costs.

Applicants must be able to attend the conference and will be responsible for all other pertinent costs not covered by the grant. 

What is expected from the grant holders?

Successful candidates will be required to attend the conference onsite and actively participate in the conference and other related activities. This also includes promoting the event via their personal social media platforms simultaneously. 

Following the conference, awardees will be required to write a brief article (approximately 800-1000 words) about their conference experience. The article should be submitted within 2 months after the conference to the editorial board of the journal Kitap patshalygy (Кітап патшалығы).

Eligibility

• The applicant must be a Kazakhstan citizen. 
• The applicant’s organization must be a first-time attendee and candidate has not previously participated in the conference
• The applicant must be a library staff member. 
• The applicant must declare that he/she can attend the conference. 

Application Procedures

Applicants should provide the following information for review by the Steering committee: 

• A cover letter with your contact information and short summary of the employment status
• A written statement of up to 500 words describing: 
  • How attending EALC will benefit you personally and professionally aligned to the theme of the conference; 
  • How will you practically apply the learnings from the conference personally and professionally. 
• A statement of support from your employers stating that they are allowing you to attend the conference and to shoulder all other costs associated with the attendance to the conference that is not covered by the grant.

Applications must be received by 1 July 2023 and will be properly acknowledged upon receipt. All applications will receive a notification status not later than 31 July 2023.
