AI or Not?
The potential benefits of the use of generative AI tools in education is being recognized around the World. The UNESCO definition of Artificial Intelligence (AI) describes the most the approach in integrating AI into the higher education. AI is a systems that
"have the capacity to process data and information in a way that resembles intelligent behavior, and typically includes aspects of reasoning, learning, perception, prediction, planning or control.”
NU developed a response to GenAI in learning and teaching which apply to students, faculty members, and staff. NU acknowledges many of the significant benefits to learning that generative AI affords students and educators working in higher education and beyond, while also encouraging invested parties to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to use AI effectively, critically, and ethically for social advancement. It is furthermore counseled students to fully acquaint themselves with the AI Acceptable Use Statement(s) in effect in their respective courses, departments, programs, and School, and to utilize the Library's services mindful of the defined, potential consequences of inappropriate use of its AI-oriented resources.
